Choosing Your Reiki Master

It is generally held that you will be guided to the right Reiki Master for you. All a Reiki master is obliged to do is to pass-on the appropriate Degree of Attunement to a student - but of course you can reasonably expect more than that!

Travelling distance, accommodation and convenience will all have a bearing on your decision. Fees are another aspect to consider. We have become conditioned to thinking that the more you pay the better thing you get. This is not necessarily the case with Reiki. You might indeed go for a 'no frills' Training and you'll still get the Reiki Attunement (assuming the Master has been properly Attuned him/herself) - or you could be drawn to a Reiki Master who brings in any feature that interests that particular Reiki Master and he/she feels would be beneficial to the candidate and is complementary to Reiki, for instance: basic counselling skills; teaching you how to help your 'client/patient' to feel at ease; the use of self-development techniques to aid the Reiki candidate in his/her quest; light trance-states for meditation session/s; the safe use of essential oils to create a sympathetic ambience, etc.

The obvious thing is to make contact with a number of Reiki Masters. Emailing and/or talking on the phone will soon give you an idea whether you're on the right track. If possible go and visit the Reiki Master. Some Reiki Master hold Reiki Sharing Meetings, others not. Some Reiki Masters are 'full-time' others have other commitments. A full-time Reiki Master is no better than a 'part-time'. 'Other commitments' may be just as worthy as Reiki!

Ultimately, choice will come down to a feeling, a sense that this person will be good to trust. Clearly, Reiki Masters are individual. They bring their personalities to the proceedings and by communicating by whatever means suits you, you will pick-up on their vibration. If it chimes well with yours; if you like what you hear; if you can see yourself safe in this Teacher's hands - then you're probably right to go along with your intuition.
